Step 1: Testing

Before we know how to proceed with supplementation, we have to first find out on which functional level(s) your body is failing. We will use a series of tests to first determine your current health as it is, and then later to determine whether your body is responding to care. The information obtained by these tests will provide us with invaluable information about your body, its inner workings, and the state of your health.

Many times, patients will try different treatments or supplements by “trail and error”, never knowing whether it is actually benefiting their health. We feel it is important for both the doctor and the patient to be able to measure the patient’s progress. If you cannot measure your progress, you may lose patience and give up too soon. You could say that these tests are our road signs on the brick road back to health. They will tell us where to direct you and how well you are progressing along the way. They will motivate you and will guide us along the way.

Please note that the first step in your treatment process is to establish a base line before we start any corrections. If you test positive for more than one test, we will not start correcting all of the things you tested positive for at once. Repairing your body is a marathon, not a sprint.

Our tests:

MTHFR Gene

MTHFR is shorthand for a specific gene that codes for an enzyme called “Methyl Tetra Hydro Folate Reductase”. This gene has been implicated in those who suffer from fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome.

Urine pH

This test will show us if your body is too acidic.

Cellular inflammation

This test will help to determine how much cell membrane damage is occurring in your body.

Your body’s ability to produce Nitric Oxide

Nitric Oxide is produced by your body in a healthy inflammatory response to any foreign invaders.

Heavy metal toxicity

This test tests for free (unbound) mercury, lead, cadmium, nickel, manganese and cobalt ions in your urine.

Biotoxins

Toxins produced by viruses, bacteria, parasites, mold, and bites by (for example) tics and spiders

TH1/TH2 imbalances

This imbalance is indicative of possible immune system dysfunction, and may cause autoimmune conditions.

Gut dysbiosis

This detects the presence of abnormal metabolites in the urine. These metabolites are related to the production of hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) and are particularly useful in detecting the presence of pathogenic microbial overgrowth, causing leaky gut syndrome, sensitivities and allergies, such as gluten intolerance.

Step 2: Preparing your body

Often, people who suffer from fibromyalgia will attempt to detoxify their bodies in various ways. This could be dangerous to your health, unless your body is ready to handle the stress of detoxification and the resulting toxic load. The purpose of this phase is to prepare the body to be able to go through the healing process.  We will support the detox systems, downward pathways of excretion as well as your gut. We will also build up the immune system and begin building the energy of the body to heal and stabilize your genetics.

Step 3: Pathogen purge

The purpose of this phase is to begin to lessen the bacterial and viral load typically associated with fibro and to set the stage for the preparation of fixing the leaky gut.

Step 4: Rebuilding the gut

The purpose of this phase is to repair the leaky gut, to stabilize the inflammation response, and to control the sympathetic signal sent to the brain.  The sympathetic portion of the autonomic (automatic) nervous system (fright or flight) is often stuck on “on” ALL the time in fibromyalgia patients, resulting in a lot of the symptoms they suffer from, such as insomnia and digestive issues. We will make sure throughout this process that the body can handle the toxic loads it is dumping.

Step 5: Biotoxin purge

The purpose of this phase is to remove all biological and chemical toxins that will damage the cells and cause cellular inflammation leading to damaged NO/ONOO cycles leading to a continuous cycle of inflammation and pain.

Step 6: Cellular repair and health

The purpose of this phase is to continue to reduce the cellular inflammation and repair the cell membranes, and also to restore the normal NO/ONOO cycle after the decrease in a toxic load. We will focus on building cellular strength and integrity over a period of time and allow the body to move through the normal stages of healing as cells are replaced with healthier copies of themselves.

Additional steps (as needed)

Thyroid correction (non-autoimmune), genetic repair, and pain control.
